Thank you, Dr. Christopher. It always takes me quite a while to appreciate one of your videos, because I have to stop the stream to read each verse in my own Bible.

It’s the only way I can learn … to cross-reference, delve deep, look up Strong’s words, etc. Takes time.

I find that reading the same verse in English (KJV 1622), Italian (Diodati 1649) French (L. Segond, 1911) [these being the options on my phone] provides on the one hand, more clarity, and on the other, some confusion: why did this translator omit these words/choose these words. I only began to go into the It. and Fr. when I reached the gospels, last June, and then, when I reached John, I went to my inter-linear Greek (a bit of a trick, since I hadn’t done any Greek for 25 years). There’s something, for me, about being out of my native English which leads me into a different “plane” of understanding. I don’t have a Vulgate or this Latin teacher would be reading that, too!

Is there a version (eg, KJV) that you prefer or are you saying it takes you a while to research and confirm what I’m saying?*

*If so, that’s good. Like the Bereans (Acts 17:10-11)

I just like to read it (whatever it be) for myself. Hear it, read it. Actually, although with your posts, I was using my old (from 1958, end of 2nd grade!--pretty battered) RSV, in general for my own reading I read each verse in 3 and 4 languages, spanning 1516-1911, so it takes a bunch of time! And when in my RSV, I like to investigate the footnote citations. Even more time. Couldn't do this kind of thing but for being retired!

Love it. Personally, I try to change versions every time I’m done reading through the Bible once (at a pace of 2 chapters per day)

I, too, prefer to go slowly. I don't "get" those read-the-Bible-in-a-year programs. Gulping down the Slurpee vs savoring the glass of wine?
