Episode 4: Unforgiveness - An Open Door to Hell

How unforgiveness is leading many Christians to eternal death
1

In this video I discuss a topic that your pastor almost certainly will not: how Unforgiveness in the heart of a Christian can lead straight to hell. But the good news is, I tell you how to avoid this pitfall.

There are many reasons your pastor won’t teach this truth: It may sound too harsh. Or perhaps your pastor wants to believe that “Jesus just loves everybody” with no accountability. Or, he might be worried about losing status, tithes, popularity, or congregation size.

But Jesus never shied away from speaking hard truths. Remember that Jesus Himself said that many Christians will meet Him on Judgment Day and be told that they are going to hell.1

My presentation in this podcast centers around the words of our Master, Teacher, and God: Jesus Christ. If we call Him all those things and believe that He is God Almighty in human flesh, we ought to take very seriously what He says. Specifically, my presentation centers on two passages directly from the mouth of our Lord. The primary source is Matthew 6:14-15. In this passage, He says that—unless you forgive your fellow man—your Father in Heaven will not forgive you.

There is no other way to interpret that phrase than to say that, if you are not forgiven by God, you are going to hell. The phrase needs no interpretation. The whole point of being forgiven by God is to avoid being separated from Him (in hell) for all eternity. Jesus was very clear when He spoke the words of Matthew 6:14-15. In fact, those who would “interpret” it are trying to obfuscate what our Master is really saying here: Forgive and be forgiven; do not forgive and you will not be forgiven.

When Jesus speaks, He is direct, clear, and does not mince words. So, I urge you to take Him seriously. He was never interested in crowd sizes. As pastor Mike Fabarez says, He often participated in “Operation Crowd Reduction.” The harsh truths He spoke would so offend people that many would walk away and stop following Him (see John 6:66 and surrounding). He was not interested in false converts. What Jesus is looking for is a Bride who is completely, and purely, devoted to Him.

Take Action Now

Right now (do not wait!): Forgive anybody against whom you have a grudge, disagreement, or argument with. Do not wait. Your eternity depends on it.

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus says that only those who do the will of His Father will enter into Heaven. Commentators will try to obfuscate this and reassure you by saying that the “will of the Father” to which Jesus is referring is to have faith in Jesus. But, that is an improper interpretation. Why? Because Look at what Jesus says in Matthew 7:21-23. He is speaking to those who call Him “Lord.” Jews don’t call Him Lord. Buddhists don’t call Him Lord. Muslims certainly don’t. Only Christians call Jesus “Lord.” And yet there will be “many” who call Him “Lord” and He will banish them to hell! The point? They are already “Christians” and Jesus will still tell them to depart from Him. In Matthew 7:13-14, He tells us to enter in by the narrow gate because many people are going to go by the wide (easy) way.
